This position contributes to the achievement of company objectives in
providing quality mark outs/locates of gas main and service
facilities within the distribution system. Coordinates and maintains a
dialogue with contractors, government agencies, utility associates,
and public works and highway departments in order to assure the
protection of underground gas distribution facilities. Serve as a first
responded to damage incidents.


• Responds to Call Before You Dig location requests to perform quality
mark outs of gas main and service facilities.

• Reviews available maps and records to ensure accuracy of information for

• Performs field visits to construction sites to insure the protection of
gas distribution facilities.

• Reports damage incidents and perform "make-safe".

• Reports hazardous conditions to contractor representatives and to
immediate supervisor.

• Serve as a first responded to damage incidents.

• Documents the facts associated with damage incidents and inspection

• Operates a personal computer (PC) or laptop, in order to obtain
information regarding excavation locations, etc.

• Operates various electronic devices designed to assist in locating
subsurface gas utilities.

• Serves as an "on-call" inspector.



• Must have 1-3 years of experience in marking out underground facilities,
knowledge of practices and procedures for operating
department inspectors.

• Must have a valid driver's license.

• Must have good organizational and planning skills.

• Must be able to read construction maps and drawings.

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be available for response during after for emergencies and critical assignments.

• May require various DOT Operator Qualifications.
