Description

Purpose:Supervises the daily activities of the Test Department in the testing and maintenance of UI electrical equipmentand protection and control schemes. Accountable for all aspects of performance of theTest Department tomaximize efficiencies. Develops plans and sets priorities for successful achievement of goals. Coordinates workactivities with other supervisors within and outside of the Department. Ensures adherence to safety rules,standards and work practices; maintains good housekeeping; and ensures employees accept safety as theirpersonal responsibility. Provides leadership and direction to the workforce to achieve goals and objectives. Strivesto meet customer expectations and provide a valued service.

Key Responsibilities:Leads the activities of the workforce engaged in the construction, maintenance, and operation activities inaccordance with established standards, safety procedures, sound operating practices, and time estimates to ensuremaximum efficiencies. Performs safety audits, conducts incident investigations and follows-up on any unsafeconditions and practices. Holds self and workforce accountable for adherence to UI's Safety Manual, safe workpractices and DEP, DOT and OSHA regulations. Ensures compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.Takes disciplinary action, when necessary. Ensures that employees understand their personal responsibility andaccountability to adhere to standards of performance and department objectives in regards to safety and other workrelated activities. Makes decisions guided by operating procedures that are in compliance with the companypolicies, processes and procedures. Assists in the development of work schedules and the effective use ofresources in the completion of work activity to goals and objectives. Interprets customer/stakeholder needs andassesses requirements for resolution. Ensures quality is a priority and that customer appointments and schedulesare met. Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the transmission, distribution, and maintenance budgets and

goals. Responsible for working within budgetary and financial objectives set by the Manager. Ensure managementsystems (e.g., SAP, Service Suite, etc.) and manufacturer's technical applications (e.g., VistaNet, Aspen, Doble,ALPS, SEL, etc.) are utilized to improve the quality, accuracy, consistency and timeliness of Test Department work.Requires strong Project Management, Leadership, Communication and Team Work skills. Must havedemonstrated knowledge and experience to set direction, achieve buy-in and motivate others to achieve results.Knowledge of computerized management systems (e.g., SAP, Service Suite, etc.) and manufacturer's technicalapplications (e.g., VistaNet, Aspen, Doble, ALPS, SEL, etc.). Individual must have a thorough knowledge ofoperating procedures, switching and tagging, and the ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiringprints, schematics and diagrams for transmission and substation equipment. Must be qualified on UI's andCONVEX's switching and tagging list. Must be available for emergency work 24/7 and on-call rotation forunscheduled work.

Requirements

Education: AS Degree Experience:

Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited college/universityplus 11 years experience with at least 8 years technical experience in electrical testing. Commercial driver's license(CDL) preferred.
