Job Summary: Major Roles & Responsibilities:

The Supervisor is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of substation maintenance
programs. This position will lead teams/projects to solve complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify
innovative solutions. Perform substation maintenance duties including management of preventive and corrective
maintenance activities, develop equipment specifications and standards and perform analysis. Able to work
independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Supervises employees, provides technical guidance,
reviews test results from maintenance and capital projects and represents the company on industry committees.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervises and provides direction for Substation Maintenance Engineering employees and contractors
performing related duties
• Plan and implement an RCM methodology for substation equipment maintenance and testing
• Provides oversight of quality assurance for maintenance and test activities and measures the effectiveness of
maintenance programs. Develops alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve
processes/services.
• Provides technical expertise and leadership for substation operations personnel and contractors to
implement planned maintenance. Review equipment inspection and test results. Document and keep current
accurate asset records to track equipment life cycle.
• Determines installation and operating requirements and evaluates new products, manufacturers and
contractors and research new technology
• Informs stakeholders of equipment failures, service advisories and abnormal conditions to ensure safety and
reliability
• Oversees the development of substation standards, equipment specifications, and framework agreements
thru a standardize approach for all operating companies

• Applies a Failure Modes and Effects Analysis to evaluate substation equipment/facility conditions and
develops justification for replacing obsolete and/or poor performing assets
• Apply problem, cause, remedy failure analysis to support maintenance corrective actions and decisions on
asset replacements
• Leads special initiatives for substation management and participates on global practices working groups
• Manages maintenance engineering budget for OPCO expenses

Requirements
Job Requirements, Education, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:

Education: BS/BA/ASEE Degree Experience: 7-10 years
Requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college/university and a
minimum 7 years of experience performing engineering duties, or an ASEE degree from an ABET accredited
college/university plus 10 years' experience performing engineering duties.
Possess an in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in electric utility maintenance activities, along with related
business practices and procedures. Substation maintenance and test experience preferred. Experience in T&D
electric utility design, operations and maintenance. Maintains knowledge of leading edge techniques or technology
thru participation in professional associations. Able to explain difficult concepts and influence others. Demonstrates
high level of oral/written communication and interpersonal competencies. Ability to lead a team of diverse
individuals and mentor others. Supervisory experience is preferred.
