Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Serves as the lead of the Indirect Tax compliance team for the renewables division located in Portland, OR.
Ensures that tax team prepares tax data and filings for proper compliance and effectively manages tax related
procurement issues for renewable business activities. Provides guidance to 2-4 team members as required and
takes lead for key tax compliance related implementation projects. This position is deadline focused and requires
overtime as needed.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

1. Oversee assignment of work and deadline administration for the team that compiles, analyzes, and prepare state
and local sales and use tax returns and assist with the same for other tax types as directed.
2. Ensures that work-plan, budget, and compliance comply with tax laws and corporate business plans and
3. Assist in all aspects of tax audits as directed by leadership team.
4. Provides guidance and support to Analysts in the filing of returns, processing of payments, and accounting
(GAAP/IFRS) for taxes.
5. Helps to compile tax reports for senior management and for regulatory purposes.
6. Provides leadership in the research of tax issues and the monitoring of legislation for compliance purposes.
7. Uses best practices related to tax reporting, tax return preparation, and Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance, as


Education & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of six years relevant tax, utility, or accounting experience; or the equivalent
combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of sales & use tax, gross receipts tax or miscellaneous taxes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Personnel management experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of regulatory accounting and ratemaking a plus


• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong tax research and analytical skills
• Strong Excel and other computer application skills
• Experience with Sabrix (Thomson Reuters OneSource) and SAP
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner
• Works well in a team environment
