Description

Job Overview:

As a member of SCG's dedicated team of professionals, the successful candidates will become a well-rounded Gas
Service Technician and will perform the following duties; respond to all types of natural gas related emergencies;
complete utility related activities and maintenance of SCG meters and field equipment; and repairing all types of
residential and/or commercial gas equipment owned by our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

•Checks, adjusts, and repairs all gas control systems and related electrical components
•Adjusts, repairs, and cleans all types of gas-consuming equipment.
•Installs all parts on all appliances and interchanges parts, where necessary.
•Investigates and makes safe any type of leak complaint.
•Makes whatever written reports are required in performance of assigned job.
•Assists in on-the-job training of lower classification service technicians.
•Works closely with other departments and provides whatever assistance is necessary.
•Performs all and any duties of the lower Service Department classifications as required.
Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

•Must be a graduate of trade school or possess equivalent training in HVAC field.
•Must have a minimum State of CT S-2, G-2, or D-2 occupational license.
•Must have a good degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude as it relates to the diagnosis and servicing of HVAC
equipment and must pass SCG's own utility 1st Responder and Meter Operations training programs.
•Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
•Must have willingness to work nontraditional schedules and overtime.
•Must be physically able to perform all of the duties.

•Must have general knowledge of the National Fuel Gas Code related to gas pressures, regulators, meters, gas
piping systems, venting and installations of various gas appliances/equipment.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Proven ability to use computers.
