The role of the Applications Programmer, Ld/Sr is to support the integration of business application systems.

This position resides in Portland, Oregon and is largely responsible for application programming and system
administration of applications used to support the Trading functions of the Avangrid Renewables organization.

Responsibilities include the following:
• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain new interface programs to transport data between various
business applications
• Review, analyze, evaluate and update current internal and 3rd party integration processes to optimize their
full potential
• Work with users to define integration requirements for new interfaces and to resolve issues in current
• Provide business and technical expertise to the user community
• Write detailed descriptions of user needs, system processes, program functions and the steps required to
modify them
• Ensure that integration systems parallel the firm's business strategy
• Ensure compliance with established IT control policies
• Adhere to and champion software development best practices (Comments, maintainability, readability, object
oriented programming, etc.)
• Participate in code reviews with both in-house developer colleagues, and 3rd party contractors
• Perform a variety of tasks and has a proven ability to work with minimal supervision and to deliver projects
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• In order to support early morning trading, this position is required to work the 7AM to 4PM shift as business

• A Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience in systems analysis/design (the company may consider candidates with less
experience at a lower level)
• Strong knowledge of object oriented programming languages (Java and/or .NET) and SQL.
• Experience with one or more of the following: J2EE, EJB, JDBC, JSP, JMS, SOAP, XML, HTML, XSLT and
FIX technologies
• Strong experience in developing and supporting multi-tier systems
• Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server)
• Experience with Windows and the complete MS Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of IT concepts, practices, controls and procedures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both business
and technical personnel

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
• Knowledge of specific energy software products -- webTrader, Aligne (ZaiNet, AIF, PI, 3Tier, Meteologica,
QuickFIX/J, ICE eConfirm)
• Knowledge of specific on-line energy exchanges (ICE, GLOBEX)
• Working knowledge of non-specified energy trading, scheduling, invoicing, reporting, meter, forecast systems
and on-line exchanges
• Knowledge of RTO/ISO Markets - PJM, MISO, ISONE, NYISO, CAISO, ERCOT
• SOX Compliance
• Knowledge of JBoss application server
• Working knowledge of automated testing, and release/change management methodologies
