Business and Department


This position will administer tax planning and compliance in the Corporate Tax Department for property tax


• Compile and analyze data to timely prepare and file real and personal property compliance filings including
incentive and abatement related reporting.

• Review assessments and valuations and recommend appeals, when material, to Manager.

• Prepare formal/informal protest of valuations and appeal work; track and manage through completion.

• Timely payment of property taxes.

• Maintain property tax payment and forecasting documents to facilitate department reporting.

• Provide guidance and support for accounting (GAAP/IFRS) for taxes including budgets and accruals.

• Provide assistance to Government Relations relating to legislative incentives.

• Research tax laws and regulations to facilitate accurate tax models/forecasts for development projects and assist
developers with incentive negotiations as needed.

• Review tax incentive and business contract language and make recommendations for improvements as needed.

• Identify and communicate to Team and Management business practices and processes which create tax risks.

• Recommend changes to processes and practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness of Tax Team.

Experience/Training Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or other applicable field; or the equivalent
combination of education and experience;

• Strong ability, desire and initiative to self-study technical aspects and self-develop the skills required for this role;

• 6+ years’ experience in accounting, financial analyst, or tax accounting; an emphasis in property tax preferred;

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex and technical issues;

• Ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing business environment with tight schedules.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Knowledge of SAP accounting financial systems;

• Experience with implementation and use of property tax management software;

• Experience with preparing U.S. multistate property tax returns;

• Ability to define problems, collect data, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;

• Strong team building skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a team environment;

• Good organization and project management skills.
