Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Manage the Sales/Use tax function for all U.S. business activity for AVANGRID. This position requires a hands-on
team leader who can help the team efficiently administer compliance and properly minimize tax burden through
effective planning, management and process enhancement. Key to this role is the cultivation of relationships with
State and/or local level taxing authorities, outside service providers, as well as other departments within the
company critical to the successful administration of this function.

The Sales/Use Tax Manager serves as a strategic partner to various business units throughout all AVANGRID
subsidiaries. This individual will lead a team distributed across various U.S. office locations to ensure timely and
accurate preparation of tax returns; advise business partners of sales/use tax laws; identify efficiencies and
improvements; and manage special projects. The successful candidate must have a solid background in a
multistate sales tax environment and strong leadership skills. Experience with construction, credits/incentives,
renewable energy, or utility tax is a plus.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

1. Overall management of US Sales and Use Tax function.

2. Oversee complete compliance process with timely reporting, reconciliation, and payment.

3. Oversee administration of tax technology including updates, maintenance, and configuration of the sales/use tax
engine and interface with corporate accounting platform.

4. Facilitate effective Use tax administration including interdepartmental communications to assist in data
management enhancement.

5. Research and analysis of tax laws, regulations, rulings, court cases for company impact.

6. Track potential risks and audit accruals for tax issues in accordance with SOX requirements.

7. Develop policies to minimize tax liability while ensuring compliance with state and local laws.

8. Provide direction to internal/external customers regarding taxability, laws, rates, and reporting.

9. Oversee tax planning, personnel resource management, department budgets, costs, performance reviews.

10. Manage, develop, cross-train, and mentor sales tax team for growth and advancement opportunities.

11. Administer exemption certificate inquiries and tax-related inquiries process.

12. Work to improve effectiveness, gain efficiencies and to develop opportunities for process automation.

13. Participate in special projects and guide the company on various initiatives.


Education & Experience Required:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Tax required. CPA, MBA, MST preferred.
2. 10+ years' experience required, preferably with multi state sales and use tax experience.
3. Previous management experience and leadership skills.
4. Strong ability, desire and initiative to self-study technical aspects and self-develop business understanding
necessary for this role.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex and technical issues.
6. Ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing business environment with typically tight schedules.
7. Experience with ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination (Sabrix) software preferred.
8. Experience with large ERP system, SAP preferred.
9. Strong proficiency in MS Office Applications, particularly in Excel.
10. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
11. Team player, detail oriented, and highly organized.
12. Ability to work with minimal daily supervision.
13. Ability to communicate with impact across all levels of an organization.
