Description

Key Responsibilities:

Objectives as assigned by the supervisor:

Lead all investigations (including civil and criminal) associated with potential diversion of electrical energy, fraud,identity theft, deceptive business practices and other forms of potential revenue loss from initial notification to finalbilling and/or prosecution.Responsible for all phases of an investigation including interviews, field operations, data/evidence gathering,statement of facts, testimony and depositions, utilization of internal or external resources (such as legal, lawenforcement or local officials), calculation of revenue loss and energy loss, documentation, tracking, and reportingof case data including detailed police reports, photographs and exhibits.Responsible for inspecting and validating the integrity of the metering system and installing various meteringsystems to remotely monitor potential energy diversion cases.Investigate all reports where energy diversion may exist.Investigate all reports for fraud, deceptive business practices, identity theft or other related revenue loss activities.Document all incidents within Case Management and case files from general info to complete documentationincluding a final case report to be utilized during prosecution.Calculate amount of energy loss and/or determine loss revenue.Negotiate with customer for payment arrangements and ensure customer is billed for lost revenue.Review all cases for potential fraud, identity theft and misrepresentation.Determine appropriate course of action in all cases and follow through to completion.Interface effectively with external groups including law enforcement, legal, local officials and the consumer.Interface effectively with internal groups including Standard Field, Call Center Reps, Standard Field Support,Revenue Control and Special Billing.Inspect all metering equipment and systems for integrity and security.

Take appropriate action to correct metering security and revenue protection issues.Analyze data for potential lost revenue or energy and help determine proactive means of identifying energydiversion. Gather all forms of data relevant to an investigation, i.e., research records, legal documents, medical,financial and document results.Conduct civil and criminal investigations related to energy theft, fraud, identity theft or other deceptive businesspractices included various forms of revenue loss.Perform phone and in-person interviews for data gathering, evidence, statements of fact.Provide testimony, depositions and strictly adhere to all Federal, State and regulatory requirements or guidelines.State of Connecticut E-1 or E-2 electrical license desirable. Experience in electrical metering applications includingtransformer rated metering also desirable.Strong investigative skill sets required with demonstrated experience in fraud, identity theft, and deceptive businesspractice investigations.Strong computer skills with a demonstrated ability to produce detailed reports required for law enforcementprofessionals.Ability to research, conduct full investigations including interviews, depositions and gathering evidence.

Requirements

Education: AS Degree Experience:

Associates degree in business, electrical engineering or criminal justice (may include Fraud Management,Economic Crime or Law).Certifications/training from investigative courses, law enforcement organizations, fraud or identity theft, or electricalgroups helpful.

Knowledge of billing and calculation of loss data required. Strong oral and written communication skills.
