Description
The Engineering Manager - Global Technical Services, Engineering & Networks will support engineering activity
associated with existing, new, and potential renewable energy projects with principal focus on electrical
configuration, components, and utility interconnections.
The Engineering Manager, under guidance of the discipline Director - Electrical, will provide development support,
engineering analysis and design necessary to reach sound conclusions and recommendations relative to
performance, economic feasibility, and operations of proposed or existing energy facilities. The Engineering
Manager will manage basic engineering as required to reach full project approval and handoff to Engineering and
Construction for project execution.
Primary duties include:
• Provide general specifications (general criteria and standards) for renewable projects, including criteria for
electrical and control design, major equipment (circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, etc.) and components
needed to guarantee Grid Code compliance.
• Serve as technical interface with Development and Transmission teams for project development.
• Define alternative configurations for design of renewable projects to meet reliability, protection, and
interconnection requirements and manage design optimization and resource assessment.
• Support renewable energy project development processes, including timely electrical design and project
layout, cost assumptions and evaluation, technical input to permitting activities and design/construct design basis
development.
• Support the project's transmission interconnection planning, contracting, transmission owner coordination
and implementation process. Manage electrical studies oriented to define the main electrical parameters of the
project and components, including preparation of one line schematic diagrams and interconnect data sheets, review
and input into completed interconnection study reports, and to define all grid integration / interconnection
requirements (load flow studies, short circuit studies, energy quality studies, dynamic studies, etc.)
• Support and manage the preliminary transmission, substation and collection system design and electrical
design basis and scope documentation.
• Coordinate engineering efforts with permitting requirements to ensure designs respect wetlands, sensitive

areas, stormwater treatment, erosion and sedimentation requirements, and all other identified constraints.
• Coordinate engineering efforts with Generation Control Systems requirements to ensure designs meet
reliability and protection requirements and all other identified constraints.
• Coordinate and manage external engineering and collaborate with internal technical staff for project issues
including interconnection, permitting, meteorology, land, estimating and other areas throughout the project's
development, with consideration of construction and operations concerns and requirements.
• Assist in project prioritization, including technical due diligence and resource management in conjunction with
other departments.
• Support the internal review and approval process to ensure project risks are identified, addressed and
thoroughly understood.
• Support the engineering and construction team as needed during the detailed design and construction phase
of approved projects.
• Ensure all relevant internal controls are followed and develop new controls as needed.

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent in education and experience.
• 8 years experience in electric generation project development or project management, with 4 years
experience in substation development or design.
• Working knowledge of renewable energy industry construction practices.
• Proven experience with vendor management, vendor selection and contracting/procurement.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiating and dispute resolution
skills.
• Proficiency using personal computer tools such as Word, Excel, MS Project, Google Earth, AutoCAD, Visio,
power system analysis and Outlook.
• Up to 50% travel required, depending on level of project development activity.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
• 10+ years experience in renewables project engineering and construction.
• Professional registration in electrical engineering
