Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

The engineer will lead teams/projects that solve unique and complex problems with a broad impact on the
business. These efforts will contribute to the development of Departmental or Divisional strategy and
implementation. Participates and represents AVANGRID on industry associations.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

•Proactively identify and perform special projects and studies that innovatively solve unique & complex problems
with broad impact to the business.
•Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve unique problems or to improve processes/services.
•Solves complex and unique T&D engineering problems.
•Utilizes a broad perspective to investigate and identify innovative solutions.
•Contribute to the development & execution of a maintenance standardization philosophy or business strategy.
•Acts as SME for equipment of extreme importance to AVANGRID and/or the industry.
•Anticipates internal/external business issues & recommend process improvements
•Recognized expert for equipment of extreme importance to AVANGRID (e.g. Breakers, GIS, Overhead Line
•Interpret internal/external business issues and recommend best practices and/or process improvements.
Participate in equipment maintenance committees/associations.
•Lead teams, acts as a facilitator and experienced mentor.
•Develop innovative services, technologies, & make recommendations with respect to current and future customer
& stakeholder needs.
•Make presentations to regulatory/public entities.

•Facilitate Engineering teams to complete assigned tasks and projects.
•Experienced mentor to engineers in Operations/Maintenance, design and construction.
•Manages and provides direction for resources outside of the department, including external contractor resources.
•Design systems to resolve highly complex problems in non-std situations & develop creative solutions that achieve
division results.
•Independently apply design stds, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines & AVANGRID polices/procedures.
•Has depth & breathe of knowledge T&D equipment/system operations and standards related to maintenance
•Recommends solutions and best practices where appropriate, based on complex data analysis.
•Represents T&D Network on projects, task forces and studies.
•Develop business cases for annual renewal and maintenance plans & manage divisional and company-wide
•Participates in the development of the project/process strategy with applicable industry standards.
•Forecast, plan, schedule and monitor maintenance activities.
•Control budget/estimates, maintenance plans & manages contracts.
•Participate in the management of resource allocations to insure adequate resources are available.


Education & Experience Required:
•BS/BA Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university.
•10 years' experience performing engineering duties.
•Specialized advanced training is also preferred.

•Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in substation/transmission/distribution design and maintenance with
broad knowledge of other disciplines.
•Maintains knowledge of leading edge techniques or technology through participation in professional associations.
