The Paralegal will assist the legal department of Avangrid Networks in various ways on a wide range of issues. The Paralegal should have strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills are also essential to the day-to-day tasks of the job. The primary role of the Paralegal is to assist the attorneys with file management and preparation of regulatory submissions to governmental agencies. The Paralegal will be expected to work closely with internal counsel and the regulatory group. The Paralegal will maintain the various databases where regulatory and litigation information is stored and reports regarding litigation to the Deputy General Counsel.

The role of the Paralegal will likely expand beyond the legal area and into the business area. The Paralegal may assist the business and legal group with research projects, contract review and negotiations, and the drafting of agreements, documents for filings and letters that span a variety of issues, including FERC, regulatory, transactional and real estate matters. Contracts include confidentiality agreements, professional service contracts, and letter agreements.

This position reports to the Avangrid Networks Deputy General Counsel and is located in Orange, CT.  There are no direct reports to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to legal department in various ways on a wide range of issues
  • Support may include, but is not limited to assisting with research projects, contract review and negotiations, and the drafting of agreements, documents for filings and letters that span a variety of issues, including FERC, regulatory, transactional and real estate matters. Contracts include confidentiality agreements, professional service contracts, and letter agreements
  • Maintain the various databases where legal information is stored
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

Skills/Abilities:

  1.     Able to work efficiently in an environment with deadlines
  2.     Able to handle several projects at one time and to prioritize
  3.     Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  4.     Ability to work independently with little or no supervision

 

Education and Experience/Training:

  • Associates Degree or higher in Paralegal Studies/relevant field of study plus 3 years’ experience. HS Diploma with Paralegal Certification plus 5 years’ experience
  • Experience at a law firm or in the legal department of a company
  • Knowledge and experience conducting legal research
