Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

This position contributes to the achievement of company objectives in providing quality mark outs/locates of gasmain and service facilities within the distribution system. Coordinates and maintains a dialogue with contractors,government agencies, utility associates, and public works and highway departments in order to assure theprotection of underground gas distribution facilities. Serve as a first responded to damage incidents.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

•Responds to Call Before You Dig location requests to perform quality mark outs of gas main and service facilities.
•Reviews available maps and records to ensure accuracy of information for mark-outs.
•Performs field visits to construction sites to insure the protection of gas distribution facilities.
•Reports damage incidents and perform "make-safe".
•Reports hazardous conditions to contractor representatives and to immediate supervisor.
•Serve as a first responded to damage incidents.
•Documents the facts associated with damage incidents and inspection issues.
•Operates a personal computer (PC) or laptop, in order to obtain information regarding excavation locations, etc.
•Operates various electronic devices designed to assist in locating subsurface gas utilities.
•Serves as an "on-call" inspector.

RequirementsEducation & Experience Required:
•High School Diploma or GED.

•Must have 1-3 years of experience in marking out underground facilities,
•Knowledge of practices and procedures for operating department inspectors.
•Must have a valid driver's license.
•Must have good organizational and planning skills.
•Must be able to read construction maps and drawings.
•Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
•May require various DOT Operator Qualifications.
•Must be available for response during after for emergencies and critical assignments.
