Manager- Energy Control Systems

Job Description:

Manager- Energy Control Systems (Avangrid Service Company; Vestal, New York) Identify and assess technology
solutions associated with Smart Grids energy control systems in order to meet operational needs such as building
and safety code compliance, environmental regulations, and other legal standards. Ensure solutions are
implemented in a suitable and supportable manner. Lead transmission management, distribution management, and
other real time applications used to manage network operations. Ensure enterprise system management practices
are in place by using internal performance metrics, annual budget preparation and tracking, progress reporting, and
maintaining high levels of service, achieving or exceeding 99.98% system up time. Ensure attainment of system
performance, availability, recoverability, and compliance requirements. Direct and manage the internal and external
resources, change management, vendor relationships, training, technical updates, and system upgrades of energy
control systems' technical environment in support of the company's electric and gas operations. Manage all aspects
of electric and gas control center applications development, integration, maintenance, support, and lifecycle
management. Lead a cross-functional team and maintain strong relationships with vendors and customers. Apply
the wider corporate strategy while assisting in the development and implementation of energy control systems.
Manage all aspects of the control center technical platforms and related services, including server environments,
storage, databases, networks, and security and control center platforms. 40 hrs/wk, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Job Code:


Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field, plus 7 years of post-baccalaureate,
progressively responsible Control Systems & Automation related engineering experience. Of the required
experience, must have experience in each of the following (which may be gained concurrently):

• 5 years management experience;
• 5 years of experience with electrical supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, communication
protocols, including TRW 9550, Distributed Network Protocol (DNP), and DNPi;
• 3 years of experience in electric operations including Phase & Load calculations;
• 2 years of Transmissions Operations experience;
• 1 year working in a regulatory environment for utility companies including North America Electric Reliability

Corporation critical infrastructure protection (NERC-CIP).

This positions requires up to 5% travel.
