ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF CLASSIFICATION:
• Develop a basic understanding of construction specifications and become familiar with most phases of highand low voltage distribution line construction: equipment, tools, and equipment operation
• Safely performs, under supervision, all types of transmission and distribution pole line work including climbingpoles, installation of poles, cross-arms, transformers, cutouts, lightning arresters, wire and cable and other materialrelated to line construction
• Works safely in a team environment. Receives and accepts training, instruction and advice from assignedsupervisors, chiefs, working leaders, and journeyman Lineworker
• Operate overhead line equipment, e.g. bucket, boom, derrick truck
• Learns and develops skills and knowledge in the placement of poles in and around energized lines
• Acquires proficiency in the effective and safe operating methods in the use of rubber gloves and sleeves.
• Safely maintain company vehicle, equipment, and tools while adhering to company/OSHA standards.
• Work on energized lines and equipment in accordance with Company regulations.
• Prepares and keeps such records as may be required and performs other appropriate work as may beassigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE APPLICANT:
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent, preferably with additionaltechnical training and mechanical aptitude.
• Must have a valid drivers’ license, with a safe driving record.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class “A” Driver’s License
• Is subject to the Company’s random drug and alcohol testing policy


• Must be available for emergency assignments and to work extended duration with short notice
• Must practice Company safety policies and procedures
• Must be capable of performing all the essential functions of the classification
• Must successfully complete ongoing skill assessments.
• Ability to perform rigorous physical labor in all types of weather (hot/cold) 24/7, 365 days.
• Capable of working at heights up to 65 ft., climb wood poles and use ladders
• Obtain and maintain First Aid &CPR Certification
• Requires heavy lifting and ergonomic awareness (50lbs).
