Job Description

• Safely performs all types of transmission and distribution pole line work, including climbing poles, installing or

maintaining crossarms, pins, insulators, wires and cable, transformers, cutouts, lightning arrestors, and related

equipment.

• Works on energizes lines and equipment in accordance with Company’s Distribution and/or Transmission

Standards and Safety Regulations.

• Assumes the responsibility of emergency duty with a minimum of supervision and directs the activities of lower

rated workers. Sharing the standby requirements of the area.

• Prepares and keeps such records as may be necessary and performs other appropriate work as may be

assigned.

Job Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED

• Must have completed a line worker progression program and achieved the level of Line worker 1/C

• Must be able to obtain a valid CT Class A driver's license and have a good record of safe driving. Is subject to the

Company random drug and alcohol testing policy.

• Must practice Company safety policies and procedures.

• Have the ability to use ordinary arithmetic to interpret drawings, sketches, written instructions, work orders, wiring

diagrams, and layouts.

• Use electrical measuring and testing instruments and wire gauges. Have knowledge of electrical principles and

Utility Code requirements for power and lighting distribution.

• Have the ability to construct, maintain, operate, and repair and overhead electric distribution system.

• Must be able to use of judgment and exhibit responsibility in planning, performing, and making decisions as to the

sequence of set-ups, operations to install, operate, test and maintain low and high voltage power and lighting

distribution lines from the substation outgoing breaker to the customer’s premises.

• Ability to climb and work off of poles at various heights

• Ability to work irregular hours and respond to emergency call-in assignments.

• Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.

• Must be capable of performing all the essential functions of the classification.
