Job Summary: Major Roles & Responsibilities
Purpose:
The engineer will lead teams/projects that solve complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative
solutions. Able to work independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Participates and represents
AVANGRID on Industry associations. Follow updates in research and developments taking place in the power
industry, through training and industry associations.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform detailed, complex engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles
& other viable approaches. Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve
processes/services.

Duties: Solves complex Protection & Control (P&C) engineering problems.
Utilizes a broad prospective to investigate and identify innovative solutions.
Prepare, maintain, & understand: schematics, one-lines, three-lines wiring diagrams, relay settings, logic diagrams,
GOOSE, MMS, IEC-61850, DNP3. Develop & specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for
assignments of complex level of difficulty using depth/breadth of expertise in own discipline.

Duties: Serve as SME for equipment of extreme importance to UI and CMP (e.g. SCADA & relays). Interpret
internal/external business issues and recommend best practices and/or process improvements. Participate in
Industry associations. Lead teams, mentor & review engineering work of others. Anticipates & make
recommendations with respect to customer & stakeholder needs. Explains difficult concepts & influences others.
May be required to make presentations to regulatory/public entities.

Duties: Lead P&C Engineering teams to complete assigned tasks and projects. Assist in guiding and mentoring
engineers in P&C design and engineering development. Manages and provides direction for resources outside of
the department.
Leads others to specify & design systems to resolve complex problems in non-std situations & develop creative
solutions. Independently apply design stds., industry codes, design criteria, guidelines & UI polices/procedures.

Duties: Possesses an in depth knowledge and interprets processes and standards related to P&C engineering.
Recommends solutions and best practices where appropriate. Represents P&C on projects, task forces and
studies.

Develop business cases & manage projects/processes/initiatives or teams in accordance with applicable UI
guidelines. Coordinate phases of engineering for assigned portions of a project/program.

Duties: Forecast, plan, schedule, monitor, control budget/estimates, construction plans & material orders. Able to
explain difficult concepts and influence others to change. Able to communicate orally or in writing to regulatory
and/or public
entities. Able to lead a Team or mentor others.

Education, & Experience Required:

Education: BS/BA Degree Experience: 7 years Requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an
ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university, 7 years' experience performing engineering duties or an AS
degree with 11 years' experience performing engineering duties.
