JOB SUMMARY: Lead role managing assigned capital, maintenance, operations or regulatory programs for the NY
(NYSEG and RG&E) Generation Group. Manages, plans, designs, and implements modification, construction,
maintenance, operations and hydro regulatory projects and programs to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient
operation of the NY fossil and hydro generating facilities (powerhouses, dams, intake houses and related support
facilities). Directs the work of Engineers, Analysts, Supervisors, Operations and Maintenance personnel, and other
internal and external support personnel on multiple projects and programs.

1. Manages major, complex and significant projects; Leads multi-discipline project teams; Develops project
budgets, specifications, schedules and authorizations; Manages and implements project designs, construction and
commissioning; Maintains project records; Coordinates project design and construction needs and activities with
engineering consultants, contractors and internal support personnel (25%);
2. Assists the Manager - Hydro Operations, as directed to develop department budgets, schedules, plans,
procedures and policies; Manages the assigned generation program - capital, maintenance, operations or hydro
regulatory; Directs engineers, supervisors, analysts and others to achieve assigned program milestones; Leads the
development and implementation program procedures and standards (25%);
3. Supports other project leads and participates on multi-discipline project teams; performs assigned project duties
4. Performs detailed designs of specific discipline (civil/structural, mechanical or electrical) for plant modifications
and new additions (5%);
5. Develops and leads others to complete internal and external (i.e., FERC hydro license-related) reports and
related correspondence including but not limited to construction status, inspections, action plans, license
compliance and environmental-related, project audits, and assigned program and project variances (10%);
6. Initiates and coordinates the procurement of materials and services including but not limited to: bidding, bid
evaluations, award recommendations and preparation of purchase requisitions; Assists Supply Chain and others in
contract negotiations (5%);

7. Performs and leads others to develop engineering and economic analyses to recommend generating facility
improvements (5%);
8. Leads, coordinates and performs system and facility inspections (5%);
9. Provides technical and engineering direction to field personnel and others as needed to complete analyses,
drawings, projects, maintenance and operational activities, and project implementation (5%);
10. Leads and performs other required assignments including but not limited to: license compliance matters,
production and analysis of data, interaction with federal, state, and local agencies, generation/electric
emergency/storm response support; safety-related activities and training others in specific programs, processes
and procedures (10%)

• Participate in and have a leadership role to coordinate NY Generation activities with external stakeholders
including but not limited to FERC, US Fish and Wildlife Service, NYSDEC, NYS Canal Corporation, local
organizations and emergency service organizations and federal, state and local permitting agencies;
• Leadership role to coordinates projects/construction to minimize affect on public/customer access to recreational
facilities at hydroelectric generating facilities

MANAGEMENT INTERACTIONS: Interacts directly with Manager, F/H Operations on a regular/daily basis; with
Supply Chain, Environmental, legal and other internal support group managers on a limited/as-directed basis

COMPLEXITY OF DECISION-MAKING / RISK TAKING: Must be able to independently manage projects and
establish milestones in balance with and to achieve the established / multiple corporate goals including but not
limited to worker, public and project safety, environmental and hydro license/regulatory compliance,
budget/authorization and electric production/hydro utilization. Must be able to make decisions and manage
associated risk independently within the established guidelines/parameters and is required to seek out direction
from Management when there are conflicting goals or uncertainty.

COMPLIANCE STANDARDS: Must be knowledgeable of and ensure project conformance with applicable internal
and external engineering standards, as well as hydro license-related compliance standards; procurement,
finance/accounting, environmental and safety-related standards and policies.

Required Education:
• Bachelors of Engineering or equivalent education and experience.

• NYS Professional Engineer License is desirable

• 5 years of discipline and/or electric generating plant engineering

• Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently;

• Ability to integrate Operations, Maintenance, Regulatory and Modification Project requirements into
comprehensive plans that meet company strategic goals for quality, cost and schedule;
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Must be results oriented and possess the ability to work independently and proactively to achieve the required
• Must be skilled in desktop and corporate computer systems including: SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
Microsoft Project;
