Description
JOB SUMMARY:

Senior technical resource responsible for performing enterprise Microwave and Fiber Optic system planning,
engineering, project management, documentation, and diagnostics. Provides level 3 engineering support on an
after- hours on-call basis.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for performing enterprise Point to Point/Point to Multi-point RADIO, Microwave and Fiber Optic
telecommunications planning, engineering, documentation, and diagnostics within the Operational Smart Grids
network.
2. Design network solutions and device configurations for IP equipment including routers, firewalls, and Ethernet
switches.
3. Lead the completion of assigned telecommunication engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling
guidelines.
4. Respond to requests for data communications connectivity that are related to moves, adds, and changes within
the customer community.
5. Assist in the analysis, scheduling, acquisition, implementation, and documentation of telecommunications
hardware, software, and facilities for assigned projects.
6. Serve as Tier 3 support for telecommunications network facility, hardware, and software problems and engage
required resources if necessary.
7. Provision network elements requiring knowledge of IP subnetting, dynamic routing protocols, and some
experience with shell scripting.
8. Monitor system performance and ensures capacity planning is performed by assessing and making
recommendations for improvement.
9. Identify and evaluate new Point to Point/Point to Multi-point Radio Microwave and Fiber technologies and

products.
10. Plan, manage, and supervise vendor engagements.

Requirements
Skills/Abilities:

-Project management skills including scheduling, cost tracking, development of task plans, and progress/status
reporting.

Experience/Training:

- 3-5 years Communications Engineering experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microwave and SONET network
systems, i.e. system installation and configuration.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microwave, SONET, and IP network systems, i.e. system installation and
configuration.
- Proficiency in the design, configuration, and implementation of SONET , Microwave, and IP Network
Systems.Required Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or
equivalent education and experience.
