The Lead Analyst will prioritize, initiate and coordinate cash analysis, bank reconciliations, sundry receivables, and intercompany transactions and produce and/or review journal entries entered by junior staff members and adjusting entries as needed. 

The Lead Analyst will coordinate collaboratively with various internal departments including Control, Treasury, Internal Audit and Operations to accomplish the Transaction Services process, monthly accounting close and various internal and external information requests.  

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide hands on oversight and coordination for issuing Sundry bills as requested from internal customers and produce monthly Sundry reports, Sundry AR aging and reconciliations to the general ledger.
  2. Lead collaboratively with junior staff members and bill requesters to support collections of past due accounts and expand the knowledge of the sundry billing processes and standards.
  3. Accountable for coordinating, preparing reviewing bank reconciliations on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as required by the entity.  Lead efforts to understand unreconciled items and follow-up with the appropriate department as necessary.
  4. Lead and coordinate efforts to analyze and understand cash activity, follow-up on open issues and prepare adjusting entries as needed.
  5. Lead and provide oversight in the Performance of intercompany account analyses and communicate intercompany accruals to AGR counterparts and record intercompany accruals communicated to Transaction Services.  Work collaboratively with AGR to resolve any open issues or unreconciled items.
  6. Lead and Initiate the recording of intercompany payments within UIL and between the UIL companies and AGR as required and approved.
  7. Determine the nature of intercompany charges and make appropriate entries to reflect the receivables and payables on the appropriate UIL companies’ books.
  8. Lead and coordinate Transactions Services participation on special projects including testing, validation and documentation of system and procedural changes prior to implementation.
  9. Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls and lead efforts to support auditors during the testing of internal controls relative to Sarbanes Oxley.
  10. Manage and coordinate internal and external information requests and ensure timely and accurate responses.
  11. Work with Manager to develop objectives and set priorities. Develop work plans and coordinate resources to accomplish established objectives.

Skills and Requirements

Education:  BS/BA degree

Experience:  Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Requirements include experience performing analyses and transactional processing within a Finance organization.  Applicants should have strong technical accounting and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.  The applicant should also possess solid organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.  Advanced degrees not required but may be used to compliment years of work experience.  Advanced Excel Skills and experience with SAP are a plus.

Ideal candidates will have strong analytic and critical thinking skills with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly, think holistically and strategically, work independently achieve results with minimal supervision.  The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work as necessary.  Importantly the candidate will capable of providing leadership and oversight for junior staff members including coordinating, reviewing and delegating workloads.
