JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

To provide operations management with effective safety coaching, counseling and advice, ensuring AVANGRIDoperations management delivers a safe and efficient work environment for all employees, customers and the public.

Provides specific safety guidance, education and related programs for operations management to use andimplement in the course of completing work.

Acts as a “safety” motivator for management and employees alike, ensuring safety remains an active part of thework and the culture at AVANGRID.

Provides “safety” subject matter expertise, ensuring the most relevant and effective safety practices are used andimplemented in the course of delivering work at AVANGRID.

Provide support to Process & Technology group and the Manager H&S, Engineering providing operationalknowledge about the reality of work and how work practices tie to existing procedures. (Masters of the blue line).

Travel (Up to 100%) to multiple projects throughout the assigned service area.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

The Safety Work Method Specialist at AVANGRID serves in a dual role;The initial objective is to operate in a consultative capacity, by providing expert support, guidance, and motivation tooperational management and employees at all levels. In addition, along with management, the Safety Work MethodSpecialist is expected to be a “hands on” partner in delivering various safety initiatives and programs in support ofour no harm and learning culture. The role has an additional focus leading the evaluation of work methods andsystem design, through the use of system safety analysis techniques.

1. Conduct safety inspections and provide safety services as needed.2. Lead, schedule, and conduct health & safety audits. Evaluate implementation of System Safety process forAVANGRID Networks, provides feedback and report to Manager, H&S Engineering to optimize safety in the design,development, use and maintenance of safety-critical systems for the utility environment. Facilitate adherence tosafety policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.3. Drive implementation of H&S Management System requirements and verifies management and employeecompliance with the organization’s safety management system, health and safety policies/procedures, and allgovernment regulations by mentor field crews and completing project safety & health assessments.4. Be able to influence the design for safety engineering by identifying subsystem and system integration hazards,providing safety solutions to mitigate hazard risk to acceptable levels, and document feedback from field reviews todrive design process changes.5. Apply system safety engineering standards, precepts, principles, and process.6. Performs various safety analyses to influence the design for safety such as: Preliminary Hazard List, PreliminaryHazard Analysis, Subsystem and System Hazards Analyses, Fault Tree Analysis, Software System SafetyAnalysis, Operating & Support Hazard Analysis, Safety Requirements Criteria Analysis, and perform HazardousMaterials Management to minimize HAZMAT within the product.7. Establishes working relationships with union officials. Actively participates in union matters.8. Ability to travel domestically routinely, up to 80% within the operating area.9. Available for emergency restoration assignments, performing duties related to safety.10. Provide full-time support in the field, on construction projects, to assure operations are planned and conductedin a safe manner using existing work methods.11. Provide operational learning to designers of work methods.12. Interface with employees, contractors, & other internal support groups to ensure that the project safetyrequirements & specifications are met.13. Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to personnel involved in projects regarding safety and health issuesand work practices.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:


• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of four years relevant experience preferred.


• Associates Degree with a minimum of seven years relevant experience or, High School Diploma/GED requiredwith 10 years relevant experience and the completion of the relevant progression program.
• Minimum of five years Electric T&D or gas construction experience.
• Electric: Minimum of Lineworker 1/c rating
• Gas: Minimum lead street/gas technician
• Knowledge of line or gas work and construction.
• Knowledge of line, electric theory, switching & tagging or GSOR, labor agreement, safety manual.
• Knowledge of industry codes including NEC, NESC, Hazmat, and OSHA.
• Additional health/safety related certifications preferred (CUSP).

Skills/Abilities:


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Proficient technical writing & communication.
• Strong project management and negotiation skills.
• Able to work multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
• Utilizes specialized knowledge in the areas of safety & training, based on experience to facilitate change, solveproblems, and help implement work methods in the field.
• Must possess the mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform the job duties including frequent traveland job site visits.
• Ability to operate in multi-operating company, multi-union environments for both gas and electric operations.
• Willingness to obtain further certifications and ongoing education.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with industry professionals across the company.
• Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) preferred.
