DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Establish, administer and monitor company-wide standards, permits and procedures within the function ofenvironmental services to minimize risk and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.

Provide all phases of Environmental Project Management and operations/engineering assistance for new andexisting substation, transmission and distribution facilities and other properties. Assist in permit submittals anddepartmental representation during regulatory inspections and other meetings with regulators. May perform projectmanagement, investigation and remediation of contaminated sites.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):•Manage environmental projects as assigned. Track regulations and standards. Analyze and interpret current andproposed environmental laws, regulations and permits to understand the impact on UIL and its operations/facilities.•Obtain/maintain environmental permits, licenses, registrations, fees, etc. for day-to-day operations and/orconditions.•Support the development and maintenance of UIL's Environmental Management System.•Conduct and/or supervise environmental audits including site assessments, property transfer and facility auditsand audits of outside service providers.•Respond to customer requests for environmental information; perform EMF measurements for customers.•Tracks regulations and standards. Analyzes and interprets current and proposed environmental laws, regulationsand permits to understand the impact on UIL and its operations/facilities.•Maintain all environmental monitoring, records and reporting requirements.•Manage property remediation activities, projects, and/or substation removals. Provide 24-hour emergency spillresponse.


Education & Experience Required:BS/BA Degree Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physical Sciences or related area

Skills/Abilities:Experience in the environmental services profession. Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations.Knowledge/experience with gas and/or electric utility specific environmental issues desired. Experience withenvironmental permitting, site remediation, and project support is preferred.
