JOB SUMMARY: Major Roles and Responsibilities
Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:
• Analyzes and recommends distribution and transmission system infrastructure improvements and
replacements to serve new and existing load and customers.
• Develops short and long-term plans for distribution and transmission systems including regulator and gate
stations to meet safety and reliability needs.
• Maintains and updates gate station, regulator station, and primary valve records and makes
recommendations for replacements and improvements.
• Maintains and updates the gas hydraulic models.
• Supports Gas Design including specification of gate and regulator station equipment. Supports Gas Field
Operations, Energy Control Center, Gas Supply and Customer Service.
• Applies company, industry, local, state, national codes, tariffs, and standards, and ensures compliance with
regulatory requirements.
• Provides engineering expertise for the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of the distribution and
transmission systems.
• Interacts with customers, developers, municipalities and agencies.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
1. Interfaces with and supports Marketing and Economic Development for addition of new load and customers.
Performs engineering analyses of the gas distribution systems to serve new customer loads and develops
infrastructure improvements to increase system reliability and safety. Develops short and long-term plans to meet
system needs. Plans include development of cost and capital budget support including economic studies and
models. (25%,P)
2. Interfaces with Gas Design and Operations to develop projects that replace existing infrastructure, both pipe and

regulator stations. Performs engineering analyses of the gas distribution systems to serve existing customer loads
and develop infrastructure replacements to increase system reliability and safety and meet regulatory requirements.
Develops short and long-term plans to meet these system requirements. Plans include development of cost and
capital budget support including economic studies and models. (25%,P)
3. Supports, updates and maintains gas system planning tools including: gate and regulator station data, valve
data, Gas System Planning Manual, and gas hydraulic models. (20%,S)
4. Interfaces with and supports Gas Design, Operations and Supply providing engineering expertise for the
planning, design, operation and maintenance of the distribution and transmission systems including gate and
regulator stations. (10%, S)
5. Applies appropriate codes, regulations, polices, and procedures. Interfaces with customers, developers,
municipalities and agencies. (15%,S)
6. Assists on more complex projects.(5%,S)

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education, Skills & Abilities
Education & Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience required. Experience in piping design,
metering and regulating principles. Knowledge of corrosion control techniques, gas system construction practices,
underground pipe locating, map reading and blue print reading. Knowledge of state and Federal pipeline safety
regulations.
Certifications:
• Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer desirable.
• Valid driver's license.
Skills/Abilities:
