Description
This position can be held in a home office or at a Wind site (ideally in region 2 or 4)

The selected candidate will be responsible for gearbox health assessments and uptower repairs, primarily
supporting Regions 2 and 4, Scope of responsibilities are as follows:
• Comply with all Avangrid Environmental, Health and Safety programs
• Investigate turbine drivetrain abnormalities. (i.e. vibration, over temp, oil debris, etc. faults)
• Perform advanced troubleshooting techniques on WTG drivetrain systems
• Perform borescope inspection of gearbox and mainshaft bearings
• Complete detailed borescope reports for gearbox and mainshaft assessments completed
• Prepare repair vs replace analysis to determine best course of action for remediation
• Perform drivetrain mechanical and electrical component repair or replacement following all manufacturers'
requirements
• Properly follow detailed work instructions step-by-step and implement best practices in any drivetrain
remediation efforts
• Proper use of large hand tools and hydraulic assisted tooling
• Perform gearbox oil system integrity evaluations
• Document drivetrain repair process lessons and implement corrective or improvement measures
• Complete a final, detailed repair report for all up and down-tower drivetrain work completed

During periods of reduced requirements for gearbox work, other responsibilities include:
• Perform WTG preventive maintenance in accordance with AVG Global Maintenance Manuals
• Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet wind plant reporting requirements
• Perform various WTG corrective maintenance, retrofits and design modifications
• Perform various QA/QC functions, compile and submit supporting documents of items found
• Increase professional knowledge of turbine or solar equipment, including safety regulations
• Review AVG work control packages including JSA and tailboards
• Perform duties around low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment (subject to qualifications)

• Become fully qualified to operate multiple WTG platforms

Requirements
• Gearbox OEM certifications for Authorized Service Providers (ASP)
o i.e. ZF/Hansen/Rexroth, Winergy/Nanjing, etc
• Borescope inspection training for each gearbox model, respectively
• Previous use of large hand tools and hydraulic assisted tooling
• 5 years wind industry experience or specific experience in engine and transmission heavy repair, drivetrains
and/or hydraulic drive systems or similar applicable experience
• Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment. (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps,
oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, infrared testers, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment and various hand and power
tools).
• Advanced computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management and
reporting systems, including the use of computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools
• Ability to climb towers up to 100 meters on a daily basis to perform maintenance in the nacelle and hub
• Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift items up to 100 pounds
• Ability to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color coded wires
• Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Knowledge of heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and
rigging requirements
• Demonstrated team work, initiative and positive attitude
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Weight must not exceed 285lbs excluding equipment/gear worn when performing job related tasks
• Ability and willingness to travel to other sites on short notice
• Willing to work overtime on holidays, weekends, and on short notice participating in an on-call schedule
• Ability to work in extremely adverse weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in engine and transmission heavy repair, drivetrains, hydraulic drive systems
• Experience in drivetrain vibration or NVH testing and data analysis
• Experience in dynamometer testing
• Experience with crane operations, lift plans and rigging
• Experience in wind and solar plant construction, operation and maintenance; including, specific experience in
wind turbine and solar power converters and inverters.

Travel Requirements:
• 75% of time, mainly in Regions 2 and 4, however, travel to Regions 1, 3 and 5 are likely based on company
gearbox maintenance needs and priorities
• When not traveling for GBX or other maintenance requirements, the location of work will be out of a "home"
site located in Region 2 as agreed to between hiring manager and selected candidate
