DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of UI’s wholesale power procurement process from the initiation ofprocurement activities, through close-out and settlement. Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatorsand policy-makers in Connecticut. Lead UI’s participation in state-mandated procurement activities, often workingjointly with regulators and external stakeholders. Develop innovative solutions to solve challenges associated withthe procurement of products from customer-sited renewable generation and storage. Provide expert testimony onbehalf of UI and its customers in legislative proceedings related to energy policy. Represent UI in interactions withlegislative staff, and energy policymakers on new energy legislature. Provide leadership of AVANGRID’sparticipation in the New England regional stakeholder process (NEPOOL), working jointly with other AVANGRIDentities that participate in New England markets.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

• Lead UI’s power procurement process for Standard Service and Last Resort Service.• Lead UI’s participation in state-mandated procurement activities, including the negotiation of resulting contracts.• Develop and maintain crucial relationships with regulators and policy makers. Represent UI as a subject matterexpert on renewable energy contracting with Connecticut regulators.• Represent the company in regulatory proceedings and legislative hearings.• Lead the middle and back office functions related to power and renewable certificate contracts; ensure that invoicereconciliations and accounting entries are correct.• Create, direct and oversee the development of regulatory filings and other written communications.

RequirementsJOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering,Mathematics, or other related fields. MBA or advanced courses in utility or regulatory accounting desirable.

At least ten years of related experience with wholesale energy procurement, wholesale energy marketing andtransaction structuring, regulation or commercial management of power generation. Experience with wholesalepower markets, with a preference for experience in ISO New England markets. Extensive experience negotiatingenergy contracts and transactions. Experience in regulatory proceedings addressing state or federal regulators,working with outside legal counsel and other regulatory stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to simultaneouslymanage several complex commercial and regulatory matters involving diverse disciplines. Outstanding oral andwritten communication skills. Track record of successful outcomes in negotiated transactions or regulatoryproceedings.

Skills/Abilities:

• Strong technical writing capabilities and the ability to communicate and persuade both orally and in writing.• Expert level contract negotiation ability.• Ability to handle multiple, complex activities, and prioritize the efforts of staff in a changing environment.• Knowledge of regulatory policies, concepts and principles, with a preference for experience with the Connecticutregulatory environment.• Leadership of cross-functional project teams.• Knowledge of settlement and accounting of energy transactions.
