Description

Director of Maintenance and Operations will be responsible for Region 5, which is our southern region coveringNew Mexico and Texas. The candidate selected will be based out of a home or Regional office within the region,preferably within driving distance to Corpus Christi, TX.

This position will manage renewable generation operations and maintenance programs for Avangrid Renewablesand will report to the Managing Director of Field Services.

Regional Director of Wind Operations and Maintenance will directly supervise approximately 6 plant managers(which may grow to as much as 10) and will indirectly supervise Avangrid Renewables plant staff and contractors.This position will also be responsible for working closely with designated safety and high voltage specialists.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


• Develop necessary goals, objectives, policies, and priorities appropriate to a world-class renewable generationO&M division, including management of the transition from in-warranty OEM services to post-warranty in-houseO&M.
• Ensure that all facilities operations and staff maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awarenessand performance.
• Make regular plant visits and timey manage any site or staffing issues that may arise
• Develop and foster teamwork both within and outside the region to meet operational and organizational goals andobjectives
• Responsible for the short and long term development of employees within the region and implementation andfacilitation of long term succession planning within the region


• Engage and manage the facility operations and supporting staff during new project commissioning and thetransition from construction to commercial operations.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate performance of department employees and timely resolve any problems.
• Develop, manage and oversee department budget; monitor expenditures, gather data, and prepare reports.
• Forge effective business relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors, including management of OEMwarranty administration following new project startups.
• Find cost effective solutions for project operational limitations, including development and continuousimprovement relative to past practices, all with the objective of optimizing project performance.
• Develop and implement solutions to improve plant reliability and decrease operating costs.
• Incorporate continuous feedback from existing and new projects and benchmarking information where available toensure that Avangrid Renewables maintains a competitive position in the market relative to O&M costs.
• Support the team of development professionals on new projects regarding conceptual design and operations orenvironmental issues, assist in screening potential projects, conduct technical due diligence in conjunction withother departments.
• Monitors the ongoing effective operation of internal controls and anti-fraud processes.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:


• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years experience in plant construction, production, operations, or maintenance.
• 5+ years experience with plant operations, including performance monitoring, major maintenance, plantbreakdown analysis, and OEM warranty administration.
• 5+ years experience in electric generation project development or project management.
• Knowledge of safety laws, environmental laws, labor laws, contracts, claims avoidance, insurance, and permitcompliance.
• Proven experience with vendor warranty management, vendor selection & procurement.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiating and dispute resolution skills.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of management, supervision and administration.
• Knowledge of budget preparation, implementation, and oversight.
• Proficiency using personal computer tools such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
• 60-70% travel required. Must live within the Region.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


• Technical competence and recent experience regarding renewable generation.
• Plant or Regional generation manager experience
