The Analyst - Government and Community Relations reports to the Manager- Government and Community
Relations at Central Maine Power (CMP). Provides support to the Government and Community Relations
department including corporate and customer communications, media relations, community outreach, corporate
sponsorships and donations, government affairs, and economic development. Assists management with strategic
budget planning and maintenance, coordination and maintenance of critical databases (i.e. Livelink and OPCO
database of contributions), budget preparation and maintenance including processing invoices, and compiling
System Application Processing (SAP) reports for various functions. Handles constituent inquiries.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

1) Manages government relations legislative database (Live Link) of legislative bills; tracks bills, (i.e.,
amendments and testimony) inputs comments received from company subject matter experts and provides reports
to management. Handles constituent matters with legislative offices. Conducts assigned research in preparation for
hearings and meetings to ensure manager has information necessary to represent the company. Provides
coverage at legislative hearings/meetings as needed; summarizing for Manager. (35%)

2) Process owner for the design and execution of state-level political advocacy efforts, including but not limited
to coordinating with compliance, legal and business unit functional groups in the implementation of changes to
business processes arising from the passage of legislation. (15%)

3) Manages and prepares annual department budget. Analyzes variance reports and all budget-related monthly
reports to ensure that the department is operating within budget. Proactively manages and resolves issues that may

arise related to the department budget and forecasts for following year. Presents budget information to Manager on
a regular basis. Processes invoices and manages SAP transactions for the department. Coordinates completion
and filing of compliance reports for government relations. ( 15% CMP)

4) Serves as project lead for corporate contribution grant programs. Manages corporate sponsorships and
contributions program including but not limited to the processing of invoices and payments, grant programs, and
tracking. (15%)

5) Participates in the development and execution of department protocols designed to ensure efficient and
effective operations and coordinates external communications. Provides support including records retention and
any corporate compliance protocols. Provides administrative support for company Political Action Committee.
Provides support to President's office and Corporate Communications Manager as needed. (10%)

6) Proofreads copy for internal and external communications. Interfaces with public and elected officials on
requests received by manager- government and community relations. (10%)

Education & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree - preferred
• Associates' Degree in Liberal Studies, Marketing, Business, Communications or related field of study and a
minimum 3 years relevant experience.
• High School/GED - minimum 5 years relevant experience
