• Supports the delivery of AVANGRID’s Forward 2022 strategic goals, communicating context/momentum andembedding company values and culture through employee engagement initiatives.• Leverages digital channels -- internal and external to the organization -- to build our employer brand and bring ourculture to life, delivering on the employee engagement and employee advocacy outcomes of our strategy. Strongknowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and emerging platforms.• Creates a step change in communications effectiveness, increasing our relevance across a diverse employeedemographic, covering a broad geographic span, and optimizing message penetration through use of digitaltechnology.• Develops change and employee engagement strategies and tactics designed to garner employees’ understandingand support for Company’s ongoing transformation initiatives and aligning employees behind the businesspriorities.• Leverages line of sight to events/news across the company to create a compelling narrative, integratecommunications strategies, and package messaging based on right audience, right message, right channel, andthe right time.• Builds relationships with leaders and key opinion formers across AGR. The successful candidate will beembedded in the business to establish insights into the local communication environments and working with thefield to structure relevant communications solutions and needs-based messaging.• Partners to implement the annual employee opinion survey across the organization, collaborating with HRbusiness partners and leaders to mobilize a cadre of Employee Engagement Leads to continuously improve thework environment and culture, creating an even better place to work.

• Develops and mobilizes employee influencer groups to support internal collaboration, inclusion, sense ofconnectedness and create a platform for external ambassadorship.• Continues to embed and evolve communication business partner operating model, building on the team’scapability, external radar, business/industry knowledge, confidence, self-awareness, and happiness.• Collaborates with global communication team in Spain to provide input on and delivery of unified communicationinitiatives at the local level.• In partnership with external communications colleagues, help cultivate constructive relationships with stakeholdersin local communities where we operate through volunteerism and sustainability initiatives linked to the company’ssocial dividend platforms.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

• This role is responsible for internal communications and employee engagement planning and execution activitiesacross AVANGRID’s 6,500 employees who are based in multiple locations and encompass both a union andnon-union workforce.• As part of business area leadership teams, the successful candidate will provide communication and engagementcounsel to management and interpret best decisions on issues ranging from employee engagement, changemanagement, business strategy• In order to increase the relevance and effectiveness of our communication and engagement efforts, the successfulcandidate will bring extensive use of digital channels and out-of-the-box thinking to this position. This is about usingthe right digital tools and/or technique to find, listen to and mobilize community around an issue.• In times of crisis and storm response, the successful candidate will be an indispensable partner with demonstratedability to think on ones feet, retain composure, and provide strategic counsel. As a trusted partner, during businessas usual, he/she will be brought in early for advice on how to position and synchronize initiatives that will have animpact on the employee experience.• Provides communications leadership, developing and applying strong internal communications practices andembedding capabilities among our own internal communications team and business leaders (e.g. communicationplans, audience analysis, generates insights, development of internal statements and Q&As, talking points forexecutives and a range of leaders).• Builds relationships with leaders in the field to establish insights into the ‘local’ communication environments andworks with these teams to structure communications solutions appropriate to local resources, challenges andcapabilities. Additionally, accommodates and customizes for micro-cultural differences.• Plans and implements innovative and planned application of range of virtual and live internal events.

Financial Responsibility/Decision Making• Decision-Making: The Communications Manager reports to the Senior Director Recruitment, InternalCommunications and Engagement. The candidate is expected to effectively implement communication strategiesand tactics through a high-level of influence across a wide span of geography, multiple business areas and diversemicro-cultures. The candidate will develop and leverage effective relationships across a network of communicationteams and a matrix organization that includes a global internal communication center of excellence based inMadrid, Spain. In many cases, decision-making requires a high degree of alignment among HR leadership team,CEO’s office, business area leadership teams, and global internal communications.• Financial: Management of internal communications’ annual, zero-based budget. Working through complex controland procurement environment necessary in a regulated business.

Key Outputs/Deliverables• Collaborate on the creation and brilliant execution of the annual communication strategy that supports the keygrowth platforms in AVANGRID’s Forward 2020 Strategic Plan.• Lead and manage communication projects across multiple stakeholders, systematically facilitating the executionof the change agenda that is driven by AVANGRID’s Forward 2020 Strategic Plan and embedding communications,employee engagement principles (engagement and enablement), and change.• Create a step change in delivery and embedding communication and engagement activities, through innovativeuse of digital channels; Optimizes and increases penetration of “field communications”.• Increase employee participation in employee opinion survey and increase key employee engagement metrics.• Collaborate on creation and maintenance of a dynamic communication calendar.• Masters digital channels to extend reach, frequency, employee interaction with employer brand, and overallprogram effectiveness.• Execute innovative events that demonstrate creative flair on time/on budget.



Education & Experience Required:

BS/BA degree in Communications/Marketing or equivalent experience in organizational development & changemanagement, journalism, or public relations required.• Five to seven years’ experience in a global internal communications function; 3,000+ employee population withmix of union and non-union employees.• Highly skilled and experienced at employee engagement and change management communication (strategiesand tactics).• Successful track record for implementing communication and engagement efforts via innovative use of digital toolssuch as internal social media channels, YouTube, blogging, and getting people to give feedback, leave comments

or vote/rate things online using existing digital tools.• Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Ability to create dynamic presentations andarticulate complex and sensitive issues in a clear, easily understood manner.• Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of senior management, professional and bargaining unit employeesusing tact and sound judgment. Must be able to work independently and also within a team in a fast-paced.• Project Management experience as it relates to the communication planning discipline and special events.
