This position maintains computer systems for modeling electric operating systems in accordance with companyprocedures and standards. Interacts with internal and external customers by providing technical assistance andsupport.


1. Update electric distribution and transmission related computer models2. Perform quality control checks of GIS data on related transmission and distribution systems.3. Design and maintain specialty and thematic maps.4. Perform daily maintenance for multiple service centers using ArcGIS/ArcFM Editor.5. Prepare transmission and distribution data for annual reports.6. Perform data requests for regulatory agencies and external/internal customers.7. Attend quarterly safety meeting.8. Other ancillary duties related to the core functions of the job as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of the GIS and CADD systems.
• Able to train others.
• Able to read, interpret, and analyze complex design sketches.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to interact with other technical support personnel, users and management.
• Able to interface with software vendors and internal clients.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance.

Education /Experience

• 3 years experience as Cartographer I or may substitute 2-4 year degree and 2-4 years work experience in GISrelated field.
• Ability to run associated supporting software systems, ie: ArcGIS, Smartmap, ArcFM, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP,SMWeb, and CADD systems.

3 years experience as Cartographer I or 2-4 year degree and 2-4 years work experience in a GIS related fieldWorking knowledge of supporting software systems – ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite, ArcFM, SmartMap, SAP,SMWeb, and CADD systems.
